ery nice in-depth story by Christine Yeh of 20/20 Magazine
We had the pleasure of being visited by 20/20 Magazine’s Christine Yeh at our Bond 07 showroom for a colorful interview with our namesake Selima Salaun.
From dreams of veterinary school as a young girl in Algeria to being played by Sofia Vergara in client-turned-friend John Turturro’s film “Fading Gigolo,” Christine’s piece explores the varied experiences that have, and continue to, inspire Selima’s timelessly eclectic designs.
The interview traces Selima’s path as a young, French Alain Mikli manager infatuated with New York and enticed by Barneys to craft her own collection, all the way into the present as a collaborator with Pamela Love , J.Crew, Playboy , and Hiroshi Sugimoto , mentor to young designers like Darylynn Ayala and Coco & Breezy, and a founding member of the Eyewear Designers of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).
After overcoming the initial shock of meeting our barking, fluffy companion Toto, Christine learned of Selima’s French ateliers, her passion for accompanying eyewear with luxury accessories, and how her customers are her biggest inspiration.
You can read the piece “ New York State of Eyes ” in 20/20 Magazine.
