elima Optique Exclusive for ‘THE WEBSTER MIAMI X LE BON MARCHÉ PARIS’
January 21, 2015, 12:00am
Until February 21, 2015, Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche, where Selima Optique has an in-store boutique, has teamed up with the iconic concept-store The Webster in Miami.
Le Mois du Blanc is an annually occuring event since 1873 (!) and we were invited to create an exclusive product, as were Band of Outsiders, Céline, Chanel, Dior, [more] Olympia Le Tan, Louis Vuitton, Stella McCartney, Valentino and others.
We knew right away that we wanted to offer our classic Adri O sunglasses in White, a first for this style - and only available in the context of this project!
“Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche in Paris and The Webster in Miami present at the same time an exclusive collection conceived especially for the occasion by the most talented designers of the fashion world.”
If you’re not following Karen on Instagram yet, then hurry! @karmigo She wears Selima Optique like nobody’s business, and thanks to her incredible selfies - for which we are super grateful - we have the opportunity to show many styles on a face, which is where eyeglasses belong, of course! Below are some of Karen’s selfies from the last 6 weeks or so.

unettes Kollektion Trunk Show at Selima Optique SoHo
November 26, 2014, 12:00am
Here’s a look back at the recent trunk show hosted by Selima Optique SoHo, highlighting the latest Lunettes Kollektion pieces.
Our flagship store, which caters to clients from all over town, and particularly from SoHo and TriBeCa, was the first eyewear store to introduce this Berlin-based luxury maker of beautiful eyeglasses to the United States. It was an afternoon/evening of “eyewear craftsmanship, bubbles and macaroons,” and a chance for Selima Optique SoHo customers to meet Daniela, who came over from Berlin to show the Lunettes Kollektion.
elima Optique: Hand Made in France (A Peek in Our Workshops)
October 4, 2014, 12:00am
To us,’ luxury’ means taking the time, and investing in the labor, that is needed to handcraft our collection.
Luxury does not mean ostentatious logos and giant publicity budgets. We like to know that each Selima Optique frame is made by people we’ve worked with for for years, decades even. These craftsmen start with a little piece of acetate and, in the end, after a lot of work, deliver a pair of frames. [more]
Everything, from the shaping of the front and the temples, to putting those elements together with the hardware, and buffing - frequently, in the case of multicolored designs, even in sculptural shapes to reveal all the layers of acetate - and polishing, is dome by hand.
The first image shows a finished frame in the middle of the tools involved. The lenses are already in place because that’s how we like to judge samples when we visit the workshop.
The remainder of the images give you a further idea of the incredible manual labor involved in each pair of Selima Optique sunglasses or optical frames. Doesn’t knowing that make it even more fun to buy your next pair?
We work with several small workshops/factories in France, all of which are dedicated to manual craftsmanship. The images here were taken in the place that fulfills our custom orders (such as special pieces in buffalo horn), which is run by Anne Dorilla. Next time we go to the other workshops to proof the new samples, we’ll take tons more pictures to show you what goes on there.
