aison Atia x Selima Optique Party
We couldn't have been happier hosting our friends, fellow animal lover, and designer Chloé Mendel and her business partner Gustave Maisonrouge at the Soho Store. Chloé and Gustave Popped in the second week of February to celebrate NYFW and their new faux fur line Maison Atia .
Maison Atia’s Popup not only featured their amazing collection of faux fur outerwear and accessories but a series of special guests and events as well.
To kick off the series we invited a small group of close friends for a few glasses of champagne. Emilie Heathe helped us carry on our festive vibes with a Valentines Day full of complimentary cruelty-free nail art. Our next guest Emma Galland, co-founder of Zenberry spent the day sharing with us her Secrets to Beauty and how to look amazing with no makeup. Finally, in celebration of the Chinese New Year PAWS Chicago joined the party and brought along some of their four-legged puppy friends who were looking for their forever homes.
Founded by Chloé Mendel and Gustave Maisonrouge in 2017, Maison Atia’s contemporary designs combined with techniques, traditionally used on fur, along with their high-quality craftsmanship, come together to create a collection that not only looks amazing but feels like the real thing and we were overjoyed to have them spend the week with us!

ogs, Glasses, Animal Haven & Selima Optique.
As you probably know, Selima loves dogs. With that in mind, we are thrilled to announce our upcoming project with Animal Haven ...
Over the years we’ve enjoyed many canine friends and know how much they love glasses (some for modeling, most for chewing). Elvis, Selima’s Shar Pei, was a star downtown in the ’90s and helped found our first Optique. Our Instagram is filled with stylish doggies and we continue to appreciate pictures or visits from pets who can rock a pair of our frames!
Animal Haven has been finding homes for Tri-State Area cats and dogs since 1967. A fantastic shelter that is practically around the corner, the Haven matches great people to great pets and even provides a “ Caring Kids ” program that helps teach children about basic pet care. Visit them at 200 Centre St. between Grand and Hester.
Starting next week, we will feature one of the Haven’s sweet dogs donning a
pair of Selima Optique sunnies hoping that the combination feels
irresistible. GIVE DOGGY A HOME AND WE WILL GIVE YOU A PAIR OF SELIMA
OPTIQUE ... A gift to match the gift! Excited?
ery nice in-depth story by Christine Yeh of 20/20 Magazine
We had the pleasure of being visited by 20/20 Magazine’s Christine Yeh at our Bond 07 showroom for a colorful interview with our namesake Selima Salaun.
From dreams of veterinary school as a young girl in Algeria to being played by Sofia Vergara in client-turned-friend John Turturro’s film “Fading Gigolo,” Christine’s piece explores the varied experiences that have, and continue to, inspire Selima’s timelessly eclectic designs.
The interview traces Selima’s path as a young, French Alain Mikli manager infatuated with New York and enticed by Barneys to craft her own collection, all the way into the present as a collaborator with Pamela Love , J.Crew, Playboy , and Hiroshi Sugimoto , mentor to young designers like Darylynn Ayala and Coco & Breezy, and a founding member of the Eyewear Designers of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).
After overcoming the initial shock of meeting our barking, fluffy companion Toto, Christine learned of Selima’s French ateliers, her passion for accompanying eyewear with luxury accessories, and how her customers are her biggest inspiration.
You can read the piece “ New York State of Eyes ” in 20/20 Magazine.
