Wonderful news! This past weekend, we launched our collaboration with Chalk NYC. Taking place in our Soho location, our store was transformed with beautiful decorations and many, many balloons.
An eye-catching array of colorful and glittery frames for children, delicious treats for adults and an addition of the fabulous craft writer, Lesley Ware, the event was a success. Our lovely friend June Ambrose popped in with her girls in tow to join in on the fun. (Aren’t they just adorable?) Many thanks to all who were able to attend the launch party. It was such an exciting day!

ankyu Department Store New York Fair 2015 May 13-19
Taxis, pizza, bridges, sexiness and fashion come to mind when we think of New York City. Every year, a wonderful gathering occurs in Osaka, Japan called the New York Fair. This year, Hankyu Department Store celebrated New York City with our very own Selima Salaun in the center of it all. Selima joined fellow New Yorkers, each, artists in their own ways along with a select group of companies and individuals for a fair unlike any other.

With a collaborative collection from Selima Optique and Time Will Tell Watches, their witty New York themed booth stole the show. (Although it could have been the large taxi parked next to them!) From glamorous accessories to delicious eats, mesmerizing art (drawn on the spot) and show-stopping performances, the time spent in Japan is sure to be missed!

Handmade indeed: Thanks to illustrations by Isak Zenou and Karen Goins, our booth at Vision expo East felt a bit like Selima's office and atelier in NYC.
During the show, Selima with other founders of the CFDA Eyewear Designers hosted “Speaking of Design”, a reception/discussion about creativity in the eyewear industry.
Quoting Steven Kolb, CEO of the CFDA : “Eyewear as a design discipline is often overlooked with an emphasis on function and not on creativity.
