e d-CFDA FRAMES FOR A CAUSE Party during Vision Expo

What an amazing evening celebrating for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer (FTBC) with our fellow eyewear designers of the CFDA (edCFDA) and supportive retailers at our Soho Store.

Since 2014 the edCFDA has been doing their part to support FTBC through their capsule collection of limited edition Frames for a Cause, available at select retailers, and feature the FTBC’s signature blue and white colors. Proceeds from the sales of these frames go toward the CFDA’s charitable foundation which raises funds and public awareness for breast cancer around the world.

In honor of the new collection, both CFDA and edCFDA members gathered in our Soho Store to raise money for the FTBC and celebrate the beginning of the Vision Expo East where they launched their new collections.

Contributing edCFDA members include: Patty Perreira for Barton Perreira, Selima Salaun for Selima Optique, Blake Kuwahara, Jeff Press for Morgenthal Frederics, Daniel Silberman for Illesteva, Barbara McReynolds and Gai Gherardi for l.a. Eyeworks, Robert Marc, Shane Baum for Leisure Society, Grant Krajecki and Natalie Levy for Grey Ant, and Christian Roth.

M aison Atia x Selima Optique Party

We couldn't have been happier hosting our friends,  fellow animal lover, and designer Chloé Mendel and her business partner Gustave Maisonrouge at the Soho Store. Chloé and Gustave Popped in the second week of February to celebrate NYFW and their new faux fur line Maison Atia.

Maison Atia’s Popup not only featured their amazing collection of faux fur outerwear and accessories but a series of special guests and events as well.

To kick off the series we invited a small group of close friends for a few glasses of champagne. Emilie Heathe helped us carry on our festive vibes with a Valentines Day full of complimentary cruelty-free nail art. Our next guest Emma Galland, co-founder of Zenberry spent the day sharing with us her Secrets to Beauty and how to look amazing with no makeup. Finally, in celebration of the Chinese New Year PAWS Chicago joined the party and brought along some of their four-legged puppy friends who were looking for their forever homes.

Founded by Chloé Mendel and Gustave Maisonrouge in 2017, Maison Atia’s contemporary designs combined with techniques, traditionally used on fur, along with their high-quality craftsmanship, come together to create a collection that not only looks amazing but feels like the real thing and we were overjoyed to have them spend the week with us!

R ussians In New York!!!

The September issue of GQ Russia features a beautiful men’s fashion story shot in New York. You definitely should investigate it!

The story features the Anton with yellow lenses and the Herman from the Playboy collection.

I llustrated Lens of Don Oehl

Fantastic Show of Don Oehl's illustrations at Bond 07 / Selima Optique. Opening party September 6th. The show is on through October 10th.

Don and Selima have been crossing paths for years and we are thrilled to be hosting his show at our 7 Bond Street location. The show includes some eyewear fashion illustrations created for the occasion!

Don, who studied drawing and painting at the École du Louvre in Paris, currently teaches Digital Fashion Illustration at Parsons in NYC. His illustrations are an homage to classical fashion illustration and incredibly on-trend.

His client list includes: American in Paris (Broadway Musical 2015), A.Smith (Japan), Bazaar, Bulgari, Chanel, Bloomingdale’s, Elle, Elle Decor, domino, Harper Collins, Huffington Post, InStyle, L’Oreal USA, Sunglass Hut, TeenVogue, Town & Country, Target, Victoria’s Secret Beauty, Vogue Italia and W.

D ogs, Glasses, Animal Haven & Selima Optique.

As you probably know, Selima loves dogs. With that in mind, we are thrilled to announce our upcoming project with Animal Haven...

Over the years we’ve enjoyed many canine friends and know how much they love glasses (some for modeling, most for chewing). Elvis, Selima’s Shar Pei, was a star downtown in the ’90s and helped found our first Optique. Our Instagram is filled with stylish doggies and we continue to appreciate pictures or visits from pets who can rock a pair of our frames!

Animal Haven has been finding homes for Tri-State Area cats and dogs since 1967. A fantastic shelter that is practically around the corner, the Haven matches great people to great pets and even provides a “Caring Kids” program that helps teach children about basic pet care. Visit them at 200 Centre St. between Grand and Hester.

Starting next week, we will feature one of the Haven’s sweet dogs donning a pair of Selima Optique sunnies hoping that the combination feels irresistible.  GIVE DOGGY A HOME AND WE WILL GIVE YOU A PAIR OF SELIMA OPTIQUE ... A gift to match the gift! Excited?

V ery nice in-depth story by Christine Yeh of 20/20 Magazine

We had the pleasure of being visited by 20/20 Magazine’s Christine Yeh at our Bond 07 showroom for a colorful interview with our namesake Selima Salaun.

From dreams of veterinary school as a young girl in Algeria to being played by Sofia Vergara in client-turned-friend John Turturro’s film “Fading Gigolo,” Christine’s piece explores the varied experiences that have, and continue to, inspire Selima’s timelessly eclectic designs.

The interview traces Selima’s path as a young, French Alain Mikli manager infatuated with New York and enticed by Barneys to craft her own collection, all the way into the present as a collaborator with Pamela Love, J.Crew, Playboy, and Hiroshi Sugimoto, mentor to young designers like Darylynn Ayala and Coco & Breezy, and a founding member of the Eyewear Designers of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).

After overcoming the initial shock of meeting our barking, fluffy companion Toto, Christine learned of Selima’s French ateliers, her passion for accompanying eyewear with luxury accessories, and how her customers are her biggest inspiration.

You can read the piece “New York State of Eyes” in 20/20 Magazine.
